Naga Temple Guardian

This naga (or, technically, since she's female, nagini) is one of a contingent of guards set to watch over the Temple of the Sands, located in the heart of the desert. The temple guardians are there principally for show. This is not because there is nothing to guard the temple from. Rather, it's because most of the truly valuable treasures of the temple have already been stolen or bribed away from temple officials.

*The desert city of the nagas is occupied and largely run by dueling crime syndicates. (Think Capone-era Chicago, only a more exotic setting...) Most mob bosses have no compunction about looting sacred buildings, if a rare collectible might thus be obtained. The low hood of the temple guardian uniform, though traditional, now ironically reflects the way they turn a blind eye to obvious crimes against the temple. The rare guardian who takes her job seriously tends to, shall we say, disappear under mysterious conditions. Most of them simply deem it wisest to look the other way...
